The Best Sunglasses for your Face Shape!

Everyone's face is a little different, along with their style and preferences. So, here is how to pick the sunglasses that will suit your face and really balance it out.

First of all, choose your face shape. Which one looks the most like you?

Option 1: Oval!

Option 2: Heart!

Option 3: Diamond!

Option 4: Square!

Option 5: Pear!

Option 6: Round

Now that you have your face shape, let's look at types of frames to enhance it and balance out that gorgeous face of yours!

If you are Oval shaped, try...
Well, you lucky ladies can wear pretty much anything! However, aviators usually work well on your face.

Also, give those glitzy designer shades you've been watching a shot!

If you are Heart Shaped, Try....
Cat-eyed glasses!

If you are looking for a little more modern and chic, try round sunglasses. They are more challenging but can be worn on your face.

If you are Diamond shaped, try...
Well, like the oval ladies, you guys work well with most all frames. However, be sure to stay away from those big angled sunglasses, since people with a diamond shape usually have very angular features.

You can try the exaggerated round.

Or just a typical round and cute!

If you are Square shaped, try..
Round glasses.

You can also try a really exaggerated round frame.

If you are Pear shaped, try..
Aviators! Since pear shaped faces are usually long, a tall frame will balance that out for you.

You can also try out something squared.

If you are Round shaped, try...
Sharp, angled glasses.

Also give the classic Ray Bans look a shot.

Well, now you have what shape of frames you need to get! I could go into detail of what color  but I'll save you the bore tonight. I hope this helped you find those perfect pair of summer shades!

Thank you!

The Chic Geek; Cope with your Glasses!

Yes, that's right. Here I am again, writing about an odd,  very specific look!

My post "The Girl Next Door.. Could Be You!" blossomed and I have been stumped ever since on what other look to do. And then, I came upon this bad boy.

I've seen plenty of "Cheeky Geeks", "Girly Geeks".. Name them all. But, as I receive my first pair of glasses, I was wondering what exactly to wear, (make up and clothes wise!) with them. I've seen tons of girls also wearing non per-scripted (Just pieces of glass) just because glasses are in, and they really do a ton for your face. Personally, after sliding on my first pair of frames and the attention went from my big nose straight to my deep deep deep brown eyes and face. And that is why I chose not to wear contacts. Glasses are the key piece to achieving the Chic Geek look, for those of you who are interested in the fashion portion (So just stick with me!).

Since the glasses are on the face and that is where all the attention is drawn, let's start with make up. Again, this can go for anyone with actual glasses or accessory ones!

1. Keep your eyes nuetral color. That pop of color will go unseen by your glasses, and tends to be highlighted enough to look unnatural and cheesy.

2. As for your eyeliner, match the thickness of your frames.  Mine are moderate to thin, so that's how I should to my liner. TIP: Try Gel liner, it's easy to apply and stays on longer. Maybelline's gel liner is definatly my favorite.

3. Use Blush! Glasses (in my opinion) should be neutral colors and with all those colors on your face, you're going to need a tad of color. Apply some pink blush to the apples of your cheeks!

5. Shimmer those eyes! Glasses are already drawing attention to your eyes, so give them some sparkle! Again, keep it nuetral and/or complimenting to your glasses.

6. If you have noticeable darkness under your eyes, skip the bottom eyeliner. Instead, trying brightening up your eyes with some white. The black or dark tones will draw more dark and attention to the deep bags, which we don't want.
7. Color your lips! All the dull colors of the glasses and make up may dull you down. Try a pop of color at the lips with a light shade of it as your blush.

8. Don't be shy with mascara. A lot of people wearing glasses live in fear that their mascara will smudge onto their lens. Not true! Simply curl your lashes and apply your mascara.

Now that you know how to apply your make up, let's move onto the fashion portion of The Chic Geek!

What to Wear:
Steal bits and pieces from the 'geek' look, but add style! For example, a collared shirt. It's such a basic piece, there are a million ways to make it yours. You can also choose how stereotypical, cute, or sexy you want to be. Stereotypical: Go all out on the geek wardrobe. Cute: Dress with a normal shirt (Graphic tee, collared polo) and a short skirt. Sexy: Go for a plunging shirt (polo) and a short pleated skirt. You get the idea. Feel free to make your personal twist on this look!

Examples and elements of how to achieve this look:

Although I would go with a neater hair style (but keep those whispy bangs) this is a pretty great example. She has the glasses, the clean blazor and a skirt short enough to show off those great legs without looking too sexy.
Notice the graphic tee the short skirt and the killer (personality!) shoes.

As you can probably tell, this girl is dressed professionally. I may have possibly taken this from the Forever 21's "I heart Nerds" line. I would happily purchase that skirt myself.

She's going alittle profesh..

If you are really into the Chic Geek, check out Forever 21's "I Love (heart) Nerds" line! I love their twist on this trend.

Good luck with your "Chic Geek" and coping with glasses!

Romper Rage!

Rompers are everywhere!
They are, however, difficult to execute... Basically meaning, it's difficult to find the best one for you and your build. So, here's a few kinds, tips on how to wear them, and what kind to wear with your build. Good luck, loves.

"The Tight Fit"
This is the absolute tightest that I would wear a romper. If you go too tight, you may look like a teenage girl in the mall, not a fashionista.  Notice that even though the tightness of the garment due to the long length of the short portion, she looks pretty and fit not cheap.

global street snap
"The Big Tee Shirt"
This one looks effortless and cute. For this, always always always wear a bright color. Also, never forget that belt in the middle. Without it, you may look overweight, therefore, not your best. However, with the belt,  eyes are drawn right to your waist!

"The Big and Bright"
This girl will be spotted from a mile! In this example, don't only notice the big and bright pattern, look at that "color blocking". Contrast is even in rompers! Pair some bright summer colors together (That don't clash: See my first blog post including rules for more information about that... Bottom line:If they are in the same triangle [ie. primary color, ie yellow, blue and red] then don't wear them together.) and enjoy the amazing results.

"Floral and Fab"
The most common romper pattern isn't the most common for no reason. It looks good! Anyways, floral is always a summer classic, perfect to be worn with a pair of strappy sandals and shades.

"Aztec and...Awesome?"
Also, make sure to try the new trend of Aztec. Tip: If you decide on Aztec, make sure the lines are pointing downward like the example above. This (like stripes! See my "I'm Seeing Stripes" post) causes you to appear longer and thinner! Short and fat designs will make you look well.. like the stripes. This pattern also goes well with the common summer pieces of sandals and shades. I love hers in the photo, so cute and perfect for her facial structure.

"The LBD Effect"
Yes, you just read that correctly. I suggest that every woman invests in a black romper to treat as another little black dress. By this, I not only mean to treat it as a classic, ready-to-wear, date night go-to piece but also use it like a neutral canvas to wear your accessories. The Little Black Romper is the perfect and classic date night outfit with just the right amount of dark to accessorize.

Now that you've seen the basic 6 types of rompers, here's some tips on how to wear them!

1) When wearing a pattern (such as the floral and aztec) tone down your look with subtle accessories. You don't want too much going on at one time.

2) If you decide to go long (not like any of the examples I've showed you) go with a neutral color. A full head to toe floral will make you a little too noticeable. You can always bling it up with fun accessories!

3) When looking for rompers, look for this : Light spring colors with dark piping! It's the recipe for chic. An example of this is a rose petal/pastel pink with a rich navy blue piping on pieces like the pockets or buttons.

4) Dress it up with a pair of (strappy, please!) heels and dress it down with (again, strappy!) sandals.

5)When wearing a loose or laid back romper, always (always, always, always) remember a tie or belt in the middle. This keeps your look cute and laid back, not frumpy.

6) If you decide to put something over your romper (Such as a cardigan or blazer) make sure the length of it is less than the romper! With it longer, it looks a little sloppy, not chic.

7) THIS ONE IS VERY IMPORTANT! When looking for the correct length, rest your hands at your sides. The ends of your fingertips will provide the perfect length for anyone.

Bottom line: Remember that rompers are a super fun addition to your closet! They symbolize summer and kicking back. Basically, what I'm trying to say is don't pair your studded leather heels with these things. Just have fun! Clothes are not only meant to make you look good, but feel good as well.

Which kind of  Romper to wear with your build:

If you are Petite: Look for a small pattern and a short hemline. Also, add strappy heels for a couple more inches. By doing this, you are avoiding looking like you are swimming in the romper.

If you are Pear-Shaped: Go for a solid bottom! The best for you would be to buy a neutral romper such as black and white patterned top with a black bottom and to buckle a colorful belt around your waist. This draws attention to your waist and balances your frame.

If you are Tall and Lean: Try going for a loose romper with a tie in the middle. You'll still look thin and tall, and hey, you can pull it off! The loose clothing will really accent your thinness!

If you are Average and Lean: Try the Aztec with vertical lines. They will make you appear tall and model like, just what you need.

If you are Short and Wide: Try solid colors that are fitted to you. I wish there was a formula I could tell you for your perfect amount of looseness and tightness, but girls.. You're alone on this one. Try to find something in the middle! Too tight will make you look bigger and too loose will make you look bigger. I just suggest trying on a bunch until you come across that magical one!

If you are Athletic: Go for a sleeveless-strapless. Show off those great arms and shoulders!

If you are completely average: Try everything. I'm dead serious. Average people are (Ironically) all different. I suggest going with the "Big and Bright"! It's fun and cute. Mostly everything should work for you, especially if you follow the rules!

Well, that is all I have for you ladies tonight! I really hope this helped and I tried really hard to include everything you would need (Types of rompers, rules of rompers and what romper for you) you would need. I'm striving for this blog to do well, since it is, after all, my passion.

+1, comment, share, do what you do! Just reading what I write is an incredible gift you give to me every time you look at one of my rants about clothes.. Oh, I mean posts.

Booties Had Me Like...

Booties.
These booties can be laced, heeled, strapped.. And most importantly, there's no need for squats to keep them up!
I know, another post about shoes. But, I love shoes!
In this post I am including three kinds of shoes that fall under the category of "Booties" and these include: Casual biker boots, ankle boots and heeled booties.
I think they are all close enough to be paired together, at least for now, the general idea.

[This isn't one of my best posts, I'm aware of that. I spent hours on the last one about thigh socks (That is now off the web) and literally six people read it in a day. Sorry if I have high hopes, but come on! That's depressing. So, I thought this time "Hey! I'll just tell them about these shoes, let them roam through a few pictures and a couple good ideas.. and figure it out. Make it their own!" So that's what I decided to do. ]

Here is the heeled booties with skinnies. Notice how the jeans are fitted? Make sure to do that.

Biker boots with dresses. Edgy way to spice up a girly item into a chic outfit.

With shorts.. Still cool, still cute, now fashion forward.

Use the biker boots to darken an outfit: Go punk. Go mysterious.

Fancy it up! Wear the booties with a semi-casual outfit to toss it over the line of casual into the "a little bit dressy" area.

"Prom Hipster?"
With a Prom (or fancy dress)! Ever feel like being on the edge? Not everyone wants to wear high heels and a princess dress to prom. Imagine walking in with biker boots and a short (slightly puffed) dress on. You'd be the Belle of the ball, the cool way. Hipster much?

Try putting together booties and thigh socks for an edgy, covered look.

Booties and (cuffed) boyfriend jeans... Just roll the cuff to show the great shoes. It's adding a little girly to a little masculine.

Regular booties and a dress... Pretty self explanatory?

Wear (laced) Biker boots to add that extra finish on an outfit, but I advise using them in a Boho look. The colors in this outfit are perfect.
