The Girl Next Door.. Could Be You!

The girl next door may not be a common outfit choice you see in magazines but..

But for sure, it is a look.

I'm tired of reading on how to achieve the perfect "Boho" or "Chic" or "Girly". Whatever, I'm just over the same five looks. So there.

I just want to bring back a little classic. a little modest. a little cute confidence. Now girls are trying to find themselves in clothes that make them look sexy, or too old for their true age. And honestly, us ladies have the rest of our life to wear "grown up clothes". Yet, you can be 40 and be this innocent girl next door.
So, hey, just for kicks, keep reading and check it out. It's something a little different, a little old fashioned.

But I like it. Why?

The girl next door is just a classic, casual, cute look that anyone can pull off. Especially those of you who are still dreamers in high school. You got this. Now, let's begin.

What is the girl next door anyway?

When looking at the fashion, it's a secretly sexy, casual, modestly gorgeous look.

WHAT TO WEAR:

Wearing ordinary clothes such as jean shorts, tight (but not slutty) fitted tee shirts, short skirts, skater skirts, simple blouses, half tied shirts, crop tops, high waisted shorts..

You get it.

INNOCENTLY SEXY.CONFIDENTLY CUTE. Key words.

Things like having a low (or neutral) amount of make up make a big difference.
Personality can be a big part too, but appearance is also significant.

Like the rest of my posts, I'm going to have that paragraph of key information above, and some examples. And of course, my commentary.

Sneakers, jean shirts and an ordinary shirt just make her look perfect. The first thing I think when I see her picture is simply "Well, isn't she just as cute as a button?" because look at her, she is! Maybe it's that slight confidence in her own skin that makes her so likable.

Again, with the jean shorts and slightly cropped shirt. Also, the all her own sunglasses... And that look on her face, my goodness. She looks like she knows something we all don't, lovely. *tip: if you were shorts that are faded like these, please wear dark shirts with them. and visa versa*

Fashionable, yet kicked back. Pretty close to a girl next door, though I would trade in those plastic looking sandals for some good time sneakers.

Cropped tee, skater skirts, matching glasses, cool bracelets, natural make up, and most importantly... A smile. She just looks like she is having a good time, a good day. She appears  happy and approachable. And I have that entire outfit!

Goofy shirts, defiantly add to your GND list. And Ray Bans.

This one is pretty old fashioned.. But, it has the cut of of a tee shirt, a sporty one, which is genius for this look. Also, the high waisted jeans were a good choice. But look at her face, naturally gorgeous. And her hair also appears to be untouched by product.

You know the style by now, but man, this girl nailed it. I would have a higher cut top, but the look on her face and just the style that the photo was taken in the pic on the right is just perfect! I really love that pose.

Are those ducks on her skirt? Quirky is cute.

Awe, look at her. There is no doubt that if she dropped her pen and gave that look, that every boy in school wouldn't be diving to the floor to retrieve it for her.

And lastly, this dollface. The sneakers, glasses, skirt and tee. The bun, the lack of make up. And the laugh. Love her.

Thanks for reading this far, I really appreciate it!

Critique Corner

Yes, I am a critiquer.

Please know that I never mean to come off as insulting or anything, I critique everyone with the same mindset. It doesn't matter who you are, I literally mentally critique ever outfit I see!

These are some major bloggers that were nominated some awards on the internet. If you want to check them out, I added a link to their website.

*IN THIS CRITIQUE CORNER, I AM USING PIECES AND ENSEMBLES FROM OTHER BIG FASHION BLOGGERS*

TOO FLASHY!
The dress is in ways, bold. However, I personally think that it looks as if she needed to do her laundry and found her boyfriend's shirt tucked in one of her drawers. There is no feminine cut and the pattern itself printed on the fabric is also masculine. As for the fur coat, it also being an unmissable flashy item, just looks lost in a super casual outfit. Sure, it's possible to mix classy and casual, but this girl is so close, yet so far away.

I know that fashionistas often love the whole baggy and accessorizing thing, but this is just toom uch.
1)As for the cut and shape of the outfit: Again, looks like she has found a boyfriend's tee shirt and wrapped a tiny belt around her waist.
2) The colors clash, Every.Single.One. This girl is dressed like a black and white photo. If she really wanted to stack these colors, something like a pink belt would drive her from ordinary to "Oooh! cute!"
3) None of the colors go with her skin tone. The color that she should be wearing often are bright colors such as emerald or peach. The whie and black drown her out.

White out fit, White skin, white hair, white back ground.
Who is she, Mr. Clean?
Besides the colors, or should I say color, the dress is just too straight and long for my taste.

When I said that you have to be the right build to wear something, this is what I was talking about. Judging from her legs, she looks as if she is of moderate weight. However, the first thing  I noticed while looking at the dress is just plain how badly it fits her.
The arms look accidentally too long. The bottom looks a little flared, not enough to make a statement and her belly, right smack in the middle, is showing like a bump.

This to me looks like an outfit that I would see if I entered a soup kitchen. Each item is pretty cute on it's own but distressed ripped jean, tennis shoes, a long sweater and a beanie seem a little  more Hobo than Boho to me.

Little girl playing dress up in her grandmother's closet? There is a line between vintage and old and a line between an outfit that makes people look at you due to how great you look, and people looking at you wondering what you were thinking this morning.

When I see this, I hesitate.
The colors together are great!
However, if you look close, you'll see the shirt underneath that jacket is patterned. Therefore, she is literally wearing pattern on pattern.
Also, the fact that her capris are only once rolled, make her not looked clean, but more confused. Maybe that's just me though, it is one of my personal pet peeves.
The nikes, don't really go, athletic and comfortable isn't really "Fashion".. They are more just.. "Clothes".

Now, letting you know that I love  most of the stuff this girl does...I just have to comment.
However, we all make mistakes. And that includes me too!
The colors together are off white, cream and grey. Just too close to be put together.
Also, the long casual shirt and the short, clean skirt just look out of place. Again, a failure at mixing casual and classy.
If she was wearing something like tight red capris, she'd look like a edgy rocker. Especially if they had leather fronts/backs/stripes down the leg.

Critique is easier to give than to dress up and put yourself on the internet, like these ladies have done. However, I do this for other people to understand my points and to get my opinions on the internet!:) I really hope this was helpful or maybe a glance at a new perspective.
Comment, share, or just plain read what I write.
It means the world to me!
Thank you.
