Spring 2015 Essentials: The Trends You'll love!

Ladies, Spring 2015 is nearly here. And you know what that means? New trends.
(and finally some sunshine, skirts and not need to carry a heavy jacket everywhere... Uh, heck yes!)
So, I'll just give you guys some trends  that I've been seeing, and a couple tips on how to wear them.

I've split these new trends into groups, to make it a little easier:
1. Looks
2.Specific Cuts
3.To do with the fabric/material
4. Completely New Items
5. Old items

LOOKS

The most important to me, by far, is the girl next door look. We're talking crop tops, innocent jeans shorts, and a kick back style that everybody loves. It's my absolute favorite. I highly recommend checking out my "The Girl Next Door... Could Be You!" post for more information.

White on White. Nothing says "Spring!" more than those white jeans or shoes that have been hiding in your closet, waiting for their time to shine. Well, Girlies, their time is now. I do, however, suggest that all of the shades of white are the same. So basically, don't mix cream and white, off white and white, eggshell and white. Make 'em all the same.

Boho. Think free, think flowy, flowers, lace, braids. You're probably familiar with boho, since it's been around for quite a while. I'd say to pull off this look, you should try to balance the tight and loose. IT's easy to get lost in all of those loose fabrics, but in that, you loose your figure. So, show some skin (like that patch of thigh in the picture) or keep your shirt tight and put your flow over it.

Military... See my "Military Fashion; Green is a Go" post. but otherwise, choose one military item for casual wear, and mix it with your modern closet. Army green is a great color that goes with most of the others, and with a feminine touch, can be your new favorite look.

SPECIFIC CUTS

One shoulder. This applies more to the casual side of fashion... But anyway, it still looks amazing. You can pair it with pretty much anything you like, though I'd avoid some necklaces, since they'll look off balance. Also, make sure you don't wear high low skirts, or uneven bottoms... So, keep it all even.

"Peeking" Crop Tops. Just a little inch of skin is a major teasingly way to look classy and cute at the same time. Not to mention is keeps you extra cool, while looking extra hot.
(sorry, I couldn't resist.)

Polo. Polos are all over the runways, the magazines, and will soon be all over the malls. Since this is also a little masculine, I like to get mine fitted (like the model) and wear some  girly accessories. Also, this pic is a great example of white on white.

TO DO WITH THE FABRIC

Suede has been everywhere! Every runway. And now, it's coming to you. Since suede is such a statement fabric, I would pair it with more neutral and subtle pieces.

Gingham... Gingham is that checkered pattern you see on the model. And although I'm usually against mixing patterns, I've always been in love with mixing plaid and lace.. But, it's 2015. And now, it's all about the gingham and lace. White lace is usually the best, or cream. And like the model, the more the colors match, the better. I love this model pic, defiantly adding my "must wear" board on Pinterest.

Speaking of lace, it's in once again. But generally, I'd say not to mix other patterns with this one. Besides that, it goes with pretty much anytthing. It can be your faovrite casual tank, to your prom dress, to your skirt on your interview... So, love it.

Denim has  been a classic for..ever? But it's usually on the bottom only...And now, it's   innovative. It's everywhere. Browns go better with denim than black, for example. And otherwise, it goes with everything. If you want to check out what jeans go the best with your body type, check out my "Be a Jean-ious" post.

Stripes. Nothing gives more of a nodical, beachy feel than some good stripes. The bottom line is to keep them as your only pattern, but you can play around with that. See my "I'm seeing stripes!" post for more info.

Fringe..adds just a little hint of bad ass to any outfit. So, mix it with anything! If you want a sassy look (like the pic) add it to some cheetah print. Fringe is easy to make yourself, so rock it.

COMPLETELY NEW ITEMS

The shirt dress. They can be tight, loose, long, short. Personally, my favorite cut is much like this picture; buttons, above the knee (or at the knee) with a belt to make your waist look lovely. As for accessories, since the dress is so masculine, lean towards the feminine. A gold pendant necklace (also a new trend) maybe some strappy sandals or heels, are all great.

Statement skirts. And not all statement skirts are as subtle as this picture.. Most are covered in patterns, pleats or glitter. Like the picture, make your statement with subtle accessories like the white shirt or nearly nude shoes.

Thigh socks are insanely in style. I wrote a post about them (Thriving in Thigh Socks) and it went generally unpopular, and suddenly, Bam. It was one of my most popular posts of all time. So, here's the bottom line: Keep it simple. Thigh socks can have a bad reputation for being risque, so balance that out with a simple outfit.

OLD (but now back) ITEMS
(from last season and more)

Flats. These babies may have been outshined by your favorite black boots during winter, but this spring, they're in. Pair with...Anything.

Sneakers. Apparently, these are back in. Although, in my world, they never left. Anyways, they go with anything casual.
Fun Fact They are now commonly worn with prom dresses! Such a comfy alternative to high heels and a savoir for us tall girls.

Blazers were in last year, and are here to stay. Check out my "Blazer Blueprint". Keep it simple and you're in for a chic outfit! Tip: Make sure the blazer is fitted and keep the rest of your look feminine.

Cuffed Jeans... Last year, this year, always fabulous (Cuffed Jeans: Casually Fabulous post)

And that, Girls, is it! I hope this helped you figure out your "fashion goals" for Spring 2015. If you have any comments, questions, suggestions, or concerns, please comment.

Thank you!

Oh, and sorry for advertising my own posts, but I genuinely think they'll help you with any questions you have about that particular style.

What To Wear On Valentine's Day! (2015)

Hey, Girlies! So, it's almost Valentine's Day. There is so much to love on this special day from a husband, to that cutie bartista who takes your orders at Starbucks, all the way down to your clothes.

So, let's make you love your special V-day outfit.

Of course, there are the basics:
1. The colors:
a)Red or pink
b)white or black

Yes, I just wrote you an algebraic equation for Valentine's Day fashion:
A+A= Pros:You're very spirited
Cons: It can get a little clashy
B+B= Pros: No clashing, very clean.
Cons: No one will know you're dressing up for the holiday.
A+B= Pros:You're spirited and balanced
Cons: Uh, none!
2. Get the trends. Take in these new 2015 fashions into your outfit to give it that modern flare.
3. Keep it cute. Valentine's Day is for being cute and looking good, so don't be too serious!

Now that we have those down, I'll throw some ideas at you.

A skirt, kick-butt heels, an a red item. Perfect.

LPD. Little Pink (it could be red as well) Dress. Cute belt. Subtle accessories.

Thigh Socks! I love these this year, You can have fun colors with a skirt or dress, or a chic black. Either way, they're fresh and trendy, and makes you (and your legs) look great.

Little Red Dress. Find a short cutie for your shape (See my other posts to find the best dress for your shape) and rock that baby with some light accessories (silver and gold. and white and black, Ladies).

I love love love the structure of this dress. Also, it's a bold red with a chic belt, which I love too.

Think about maybe going out of your comfort zone this year with a little lace. Classic, cute and chic... All of my favorite C words.

Well, Girlies, that's all for now!
Valentine's day fashion isn't always about trying to impress that special someone, but also about loving yourself. Don't forget that...

Thank you so much, Loves.
Happy Valentine's Day!
